She was predeceased by: her parents, George Gavel and Vera Gavel; her husband Karl Ruf; her daughter Elaine; her siblings, Arthur, Audrey (Donald) and Murray (Ramona); her nieces, Beverly and Barbara; her in-laws, David (Ann), Jacob (June), Rose (Herman), Henry (Emma), William (Antolena), Samuel (Luella), Adam (Violet) and Herman (Joyce); her nieces, Eunice (Don) and Patti; and her nephew Bruno.
She is survived by: her son Robert (Tatiana); and her grandchildren, Neesha (Jordan), Nathan (Shayla) and Jeremy. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross, an organization she supported regularly and one that, like her, is dedicated to helping people.
