He was predeceased by: his parents, John "Jack" Mitchell and Ethel Mitchell (McDonald); and his wife Alexis Rose Nabe. He is survived by: his sons, Jonathan (Deb), Greg (Erin), David (Katriona), Bryan (Arleece) and Darren (Charlotte); and his brothers, Robert (Marilyn) and Brian (Marilyn). He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
