He was predeceased by: his parents, Gust Olson and Minnie Olson (Braaten); his wife Alice Runnblom; and his grandchildren, Preston and April Novak.

He is survived by: his brother Fred; his children, Linda (Rae), Donna Novak (George), Wendy Bakke (Gordon) of Ardrossan, AB, Larry Olson, Kim Olson (Rosalie) and Winnipeg; his sister Olive Mclean; and his close friend Rose Palechka. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
