He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Whitell and Carolina Whitell; his wife Dorothy Whitell; his in-laws, David and Dolly Maurer; his grandson Victor John Whitell; his brothers, Bill and Bob Whitell; and his siblings-in-law, Lynda Weatherwax, Harvey Maurer and Donald O'Brien.
He is survived by: his children, Candace Brownridge (Don) of Huatulco, Dave Whitell (Carley) of Lyalta, AB and Janice Phillips (Darcy) of Weyburn, SK; his grandchildren, Em Ironstar (Carmen), Ryan Whitell (Allegra), Alexis Whitell (Hunter), J. T. Phillips (Melissa), Noelle McGuire (Kory) and Kaylee Phillips; his great grandchildren, Mila, Max Phillips, Penny and C. C. McGuire; his sister Vivian O'Brien of Buffalo, N. Y.; and his nieces and nephews, Steve, Maureen, Scott, Erin, Karen, Colleen, Pat, Mike, Cathleen, Terry, Rick and Lisa. He is also survived by cousins, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #47 (150 3rd St NE, Weyburn, SK S4H 0W2).
