He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Rains and Minerva Rains; his wife Judith Rains; his son Donn Rains; his brother Ron Sinclair; and his sister-in-law Ann Rains.

He is survived by: his son Scott (Cathy); his grandchildren, Ryley (Regan), Zachary (Jaylee), Lesli (Tanner) and Caden; his great grandchildren, Kayson, Aurora, Saeliia, Evander, Lachlan and Sophia; his brothers, Neil Rains and Grant Rains (Rosie); his sister-in-law Dorothy Aikens; and his close friend Verna Downes. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
