He was loved and cherished by many people including : his foster children, Dawna Dumont and Stella Redies; his siblings-in-law, Joyce, Violet, Rose Kopp and Edward Kopp (Regina); his cousin Diane Krupka; his wife Marge Summerfelt; his son Gerald Dalby; his parents, Jack Summerfelt and Nettie Summerfelt; his stepmother Mary Kopp; his siblings, Doris Dillabough (Gordon), Noreen Gavin, Howard Summerfelt, Gordon Summerfelt and Lyle Summerfelt; his brothers-in-law, Joe Kopp, Bud Kopp and Raymond Kopp; and his cousin Hubert Krupka.
