He was predeceased by: his parents, John Lansley and Marjorie Marie Hicks; his brothers, Barrie and Byron Hicks; and his brother-in-law James Wright.

He is survived by: his wife Jill MacDonald; his son Aaron (Jessie); his stepchildren, Janice (Laird) and Trent (Pamela); his sisters, Helen Wright and Lynn Magnuson (Tom); and his sisters-in-law, Kay Hicks and Sandra Puffalt (Glen Lyman). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In April 2020 as part of the Pipestone Health District the Wolseley Acute Care Memorial Hospital was closed to deal with the pandemic.
