It is with sadness that the passing of Darrell Taypotat (Yorkton, Saskatchewan) is shared. Darrell, born on January 28, 1962 in Whitewood, Saskatchewan, passed away on August 31, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Allan, Emily Rose Taypotat, Marlowe Kenny and Eloise Johnson; his siblings, Leland, Larond Taypotat and Cynthia Emily Rose Isaac; and his niece Jimi-Jo Pewapisconias.

He is survived by: his wife Christa Taypotat; his daughter Melinda Alexson; his grandchildren, Carter and Kayson; his child Tashan Bobb; his grandchild Drayven; his adoptive daughters, Jennifer Wilson and Sara Wilson; his parents, Louis Earl and Bernice Ann Taypotat; his siblings, Curtis Taypotat (Tammy F.), Chooch Taypotat, Kendra Taypotat (Terrance), Samuel Taypotat (Tammy T.), Sonya Dodginghorse (Brent), Martina Taypotat, Chip and Karyn Taypotat; Lakeyn, Lyric, Mason and Cruz. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends.

A wake was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 4:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 11:00 AM.

Darrell earned many rodeo wins and titles throughout his career, but his contribution to rodeo went far beyond the buckles and championships he won.
