We announce the death of Walter Protz (Yorkton, Saskatchewan), who passed away on October 9, 2026, at the age of 97. Walter will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Walter will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Walter’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John and Angeline (Mushka). He is survived by: his wife Mary Protz; and his children, Karen (Garth), Connie, Kelly, Clark and Wayne. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. A burial was held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 2:45 PM at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations in memory of Walter Protz may be made to the Yorkton Terriers Hockey Club or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan as gifts of remembrance.
