Michael Altmann Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael (Mickey) Altmann, formerly of Lackawanna NY, on June 5, 2022 after a prolonged illness.
Mickey was born Nov. 20, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY to Phyllis Edwards and Salvatore Stureli, later adopted by James Altmann. Mickey's upbringing meant moving around much of the East Coast, but returned to Lackawanna area to live with his Aunt Dolores Buczek and Uncle Leonard Buczek who, along with his cousins Donald, Dennis, Robert, Joe, Lenny, Jimmy, and David continued his upbringing in the area.
Mickey had served in the United States Navy for a short time, and proudly worked for the City of Buffalo for many years.
Mickey is survived by his four children Michael Altmann Jr, Rachel Balla, Toni-Kay Altmann, and Aaron Sliwinski.
Mickey is also survived by his siblings Patty Buczek, Kathy Blakston, Laurie Lomeli, and Tony Altmann. He is also mourned by his life's partner, Dianne Wilson, of New Zealand, where Mickey had lived and worked for the past 20+ years.
He is predeceased by his mother Phyllis, fathers Salvatore and James 1st, and sibling James Altmann 2nd.
Mickey's great love of music, fishing, and laughter will be greatly missed by those who loved him best.

Kathleen Blakston wrote a sympathy message

“My brother's pain is over, and he leaves behind great memories. Memories of love and laughter, music, jokes-mostly bad ones, yet we laughed anyways-because he just wanted to make those around him smile. No matter how much hurt he had inside him, he put that aside to make you smile, in any way he could. I will miss the way he spoke my name, the way he never lost his Buffalo accent even after 20 years in New Zealand. How he made me feel safe, loved, and cherished as his kid sister. I just miss him”
