He is survived by : his parents, John Albert of Dunedin and Alice May Ainge of Dunedin; his wife Judith; and his children, John, Susan, Stephen and Rosemary.

In lieu of flowers, Ron requested a donation be sent on his behalf to his favourite charity, The Royal Flying Doctor Service.
