He is survived by: his wife Sylvia O'Connor; his children, Suzanne O'Connor (Michael Porter), Katherine Leone (Joseph), Marjorie McElwain (Gary), Evon O'Connor, Michael O'Connor and Bobby O'Connor II; and his grandchildren, Ian Leone, Morgan Porter, Brianna Leone, Mariah Glodo-O'Connor, Tyler Socarras, Alyssa McElwain, Madelynn Delano and Emma McElwain.

BJ believed in giving back to the community, even in death, as part of the Life Alaska organ donation program.
