He is survived by: his spouse Betty Herberholz; his children, Todd Strand (Deborah) of Lafayette, Tammy Obrigewitch (Mavis Strand) of Dickinson, N. D, Dawn Helmowski (Jason) of Casselton and Sarah Strand of Anchorage; his grandchildren, Samantha Dvorak, Alexa Thompson (Warren), Kyle Strand, Ali Strand, Grace Helmowski and Luke Helmowski; and his great grandchild Amelia Thompson. He is also survived by His children remember him as a teacher, mentor, encourager, innovator and all-around great dad.
