We are sad to announce that on December 9, 2021 we had to say goodbye to Dorothy Marie Shinn (Anchorage, Alaska), born in Copper Center, Alaska. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her significant other Raymond Shinn; her parents, Harry Johns and Ruth Johns; and her siblings, Harry Johns Jr. Violet Cisneros, Norman Johns, Warren Johns, Rebecca Hobson and Vickie Johns.
She is survived by: her children, Ruthie Shinn, Shane (Poulsen), Laurel Shinn, Paul (Dodds), Scott, Janine Shinn, David and Jolene Dempsey (Shinn). She is also survived by grandchildren, great-Grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
For those who are planning on attending, the family has requested for attendees to observe COVID protocols of social distancing and the wearing of masks.
Dorothy was a respected Ahtna leader and she spent many years serving on boards including Tazlina Village Council, Copper River Native Association, and Ahtna Heritage Foundation.
