He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy McDowell and Glenn McDowell; and his siblings, Garrett McDowell and Georgena McDowell (Geney). He is survived by: his daughters, Megan Ellis of Anchorage, Alaska. and Kathleen McDowell of Anchorage, Alaska.; his sister Nancy Eshelmen of Anchorage; and his grandchildren, Caleb, Kylie, Caden Ellis and Alexandria Trainor.
