He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Thomas Ray; his daughter Shena; his son-in-law Raymond Marcil of Anchorage, Alaska.; his mother Ellen Banks Hensley; his brother Horace Daniel "Danny" Ray III (Tonya Allen Ray) of Burnsville, NC.; and his sisters-in-law, Shirley (James Curtis) of Clyde, NC. and Judy (Bill Cullum) of Shelby, NC.. He is also survived by cousins, who love him like their brother, 5 nieces and nephew he treasured, and a great niece and 3 great nephews.
