He was predeceased by: his fathers, Oscar Yates and Cecil Porter Yates; and his siblings, Catherine Jordan, Bernice Skipworth, Albertina Bruner, Ruth Askew, Jane Yates, Pauline Yates and Elizabeth Rogers.

He is survived by: his wife Eva Yates; and his godson Leslie Pridgen. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
