Richard Lause Obituary
Richard Francis William Lause of Anchorage Alaska, passed away on Tuesday 05 July 2016, at 75 years of age, at home surrounded by family. Sadly, as healthy as he maintained himself, he suffered complications from advanced Alzheimer's. A viewing will held on Saturday 09 July 2016, at 10:00 (am), followed by mass at 11:00 (am), at St. Patrick's Parish; 2111 Muldoon Road Anchorage, AK, 99504.Inurnment of his ashes will take place on 12 July at 15:00 (3:00 pm) at the Fort Richardson National Cemetery; Bldg 58-512, Davis Hwy, Fort Richardson, AK 99505 meeting at the main gate @ 14:30 (2:30 pm) where he will receive full military honors, to include a three volley rifle salute and taps from a bugle and presentation of the United States of America flag……… Richard was born on 21 April 1941 in Toledo Ohio.His parents Delores and Arthur Lause raised him in Custar, Ohio where he grew up on a working farm with his cousins, brothers, and sisters, tending crops and cattle.
Dairy cows were milked daily and the stainless steel cans rolled from the barn to the cool room leaving a groove in the concrete path later shown to his children.Growing up in the country, he operated many types of farm equipment. And told stories reminiscing back of his parents, a "hoopie," a scooter, and the cars.Farm, school, and part time work kept Richard busy through his teen years.He joined and served 20+ years in the USAF enjoying opportunities as aircraft electrician, munitions, and aerial gunner on the B52, flying Strategic Air Command Linebacker I and II missions, pulled alert, and was very proud of his service to the United States of America. Following retirement from the USAF in spring 1981, Richard moved to Anchorage Alaska in the fall of that same year.
He took a job and retired from Alaska Department of Corrections in 2006 with 14+ years service.He walked the tough beat at Cook Inlet Pre-Trial Facility.No matter the weather, snow, rain or sunshine, he loved outdoor activities and working the dirt with big boy toys. He enjoyed walks, assisting in the raising of grandchildren, fishing on the Kenai, and anything aviation related.When he shoveled snow had a precise methodology in which he meticulously administrated, one of which is clearing areas prior to vehicles making tracks and he ingrained into his family's head. He also favored his gravely walk-behind tractor and prized the attachments to include snow blower, dirt auger, and mowing deck.Richard is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Virginia, sons Craig, Nicholas, Nicholas Jr. and Connor, granddaughters MicheaShea Anderson, Melissa Lause, grandson Colton, great grandson Sid Anderson II, brothers Ed, Chuck AuFrance, sisters Irene Goldsmith, Ruth Ann Shafer, Sharon Bradford.Richard is preceded in death by his parents Delores and Arthur Lause and his brother Denny Lause, his cousin Ron Lause, his maternal mother Bernadette AuFrance, and his sister Judy Elliot.
