It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jean Barbara Hoegler of Juneau, Alaska, born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on August 29, 2023, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Dessa Sandberg (Olson) and Leonard Sandberg; her former life partner Robert Gerstung; and her son Daniel Robert. She is survived by : her daughters, Susan Barbara and Jeanette Lynn; her brother Russel Sandberg of San Anselmo, CA; her children, Sue Loving (Vic) of South Chesterfield, VA, Fred Hoegler (Lori) of Palatine, IL and Jenny McBride (Marlin Bowles) of Juneau, AK; her grandchildren, Breena Edwards, Jamie Loving, Patrice Aguirre, Ethan Hoegler, Celine Farmer and Julia Hoegler; and her great grandchild Carter.
Jean loved the song "The Impossible Dream," and she completed her dream of being an archaeologist by volunteering for the Upper Mississippi Valley Research Foundation in the summer of 1978.
