“I knew him as Roger or Rog. In many ways we grew up together but really it all started in 9th grade. We got together to do a science project and became fast friends. We played sports, were Boy Scouts (a pair of Carlson's Commandos) we earned our Eagle badges together. People would laugh, if you saw one of us the other was there somewhere. In college we didn't see each other as much. When Roger was in med-school we started up again but our careers took us in different places. We had a unique ability to reconnect quickly whenever we met. My bucket list included a trip to Alaska to see Roger and maybe some of his family where we would certainly have brought up old stories. He was a great friend and in many ways made me a better person. He prodded me to go where I wouldn't have gone on my own. We could finish each other's sentences so I won't ever find another friend like that. Please accept my heartfelt sympathies. Tony Hansen”
