He was predeceased by: his wife Linda Walden Acker; and his daughter Rhonda Acker. He is survived by: his son Jeremy Dwayne Acker; his grandchildren, David Nix, Brandon Acker and Kristen Acker; and his siblings, Charles Acker and Deborah Acker Hardin.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
