He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton Edward Sanford and Rena Skipper Sanford; his wife Goldie Elizabeth Sanford; his grandson Grayson Sanford; his great grandchild Jackson James Lilly; and his siblings, Mary Gorom, Doris Odom, O. K. "Doc" Sanford and Lynn Sanford.
He is survived by: his children, Jimmy Sanford of Jacksons Gap, Benny Sanford (Luanne) of Wedowee, Dennis Sanford of Alexander City, Tony Sanford of Alexander City, Janet Whitehead (Ken) of Alexander City, Debra Dunlap (Richard) of Alexander City and Vicki Spraggins (Lynn) of Opelika; and his brother David Sanford (Deborah) of Alexander City. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Ray Baptist Church (2519 Hwy 22 W, Alexander City, AL 35010). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
