He was predeceased by: his parents, Pleasant Wade Mahan and Clarice Katherine Jones Mahan; his sister Sherlene; his brother-in-law Gary Dean; and his son-in-law Rodney Hilyer.

He is survived by: his wife Diane Lankford Mahan of New Site; his daughters, Michelle Hilyer of New Site and Kim Welch (Joe) of Goodwater; his grandchildren, Jami Young (Tim), Kristi Yarbrough (Joseph), Ryan Grant (Nina) and Kyndal Chandler (Jake); his great grandchildren, Brady Alford, Wes Young, Brantley Young and Emmarie Grant; his great great grandchild Kyleigh Alford; his brother Ronnie Mahan; his niece Karen Harris (Rob); and his nephew Keith Dean (Melissa).
