With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Vernell Oliver Gibbs of Altoona, Alabama, who passed away on July 26, 2021 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his daughter Cindy Blanton; his parents, Herman Gibbs and Flossie Gibbs; and his siblings, Sue McCray and David Mancel Gibbs.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Kate Gibbs; his son-in-law Daryl Blanton; his grandchildren, Bryan Blanton (Kristie Smith) and Julie Peck (Tony); his great grandchildren, Hannah, Hunter Blanton, Juliana, Joshua Ballew, Tyler Peck (Demi) and Kristen Peck; his great great grandchildren, Oliver and Forrest; and his siblings, Loretta Sloan, Belinda Faulkner (Rick) and Tommy Gibbs (Martha).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samuels Chapel Baptist Church.
