Juanita Gortney Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Juanita Gortney of Ashland, Alabama, who passed away on August 30, 2025, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Though Juanita may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Juanita touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.

She was predeceased by: her parents, James Mayo and Louise Wright Mayo; and her siblings, Ollie Ray Mayo and Helen Oates. She is survived by: her husband Charles Gortney of Ashland; and her siblings, Debra Jordan (Pete) of Lineville, Paul Mayo "Sparkplug" (Regina) of Ashland and Jimmy Mayo (Shirley Harris) of Ashland. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
