He was predeceased by: his parents, Garnett DeMent and Evelyn DeMent; and his siblings, Louis DeMent and Kay Tucker. He is survived by: his wife Manila DeMent; his children, Byron DeMent, Jr. (Melissa), Renee Burnett (Dennis) and Rhonda Sullivan; his grandchildren, Christy (James), Christopher, Beau (Abby) and Hugh; and his great grandchildren, Will Ann, Axel Ann and Kelly Ann.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations by made in Byron's name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation @ JDRF.org.
