She was predeceased by: her husband Tommy Austin, Jr.; and her siblings, Laura Maxwell, Oliver Buchanan, Cecil F. Buchanan and Lillie Jean Buchanan.

She is survived by: her daughter Joyce Shedrick; her son-in-law James Shedrick; her siblings, Sarah Gilbert, Barbara Hudson (John) and John Wesley Buchanan (Nora Dian); and her siblings-in-law, Willie Mae Williams, Cealie Davis, Caesar Austin (Puretha) and Richard Austin (Annie).
