He was predeceased by: his parents, Howell Winderweedle and Jeanne Winderweedle; and his brother James Winderweedle. He is survived by: his wife Martha; his daughter Kristine Jones; and his grandsons, Tyler Jones, Dylan Jones and Zachary Jones.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations to be made to Bruno Cancer Center and/or Greater Birmingham Humane Society.
