He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Elnora Clay; his children, Joe Clay, Jr. (Ada), Bobby Lee Clay, Leon Clay (Nell), Jeff Clay (Sherry), James Tate (Tammy), Andre Tate, Thaddius Tate, Jody Clay (Janie) of Birmingham, Alabama and Christine Bell of Hempstead; and his siblings, Willie Clay of Rochester, Charlie Clay of Columbus, Mississippi and Addie Clay of Rochester. He was also cherished by fifteen grandchildren and a host of great-grands, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
