He was predeceased by: his son Michael Ford; his brother Martin Ford; and his parents, Thomas Ford and Izora Ford of Greenville. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth; his children, Deirdre Bernstein (Joseph) of Phoenix, MD and Gary Vaughan (Summer) of Auburn, AL; and his sister Martha Smith (Ray) of Owensboro. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jon's name to UAB Department Center for Palliative and Supportive Care 1808 7th Avenue South, BDB 420F Birmingham, Al 35294-0012.
