He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. William James Goodson and Mary Chapman Goodson; and his siblings, Henry Goodson, Melvin Goodson and Dorothy A. Clark.

He is survived by: his wife Rolanda M. Goodson; his children, Zachary Lewis and Nekia Goodson; and his siblings, Teresa Weems (Larry), Carl Goodson and Calvin Goodson (Sherita). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
