He was loved and cherished by many people including: his brothers, Howard Harris, Jr. (Pauline) and Melvin Harris (Faye); his children, Richard B. Harris, Jr. (Pheobe), Jason D. Harris, La-Quisha Harris, Lawson (Darius) and Whitney Garrett; and his nieces, Pamela Harris and Paula Harris. He was also cherished by grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
