He was predeceased by: his parents, William Murrell and Thelma Murrell. He is survived by: his wife Marlene; his children, Jeremy (Dixiana), Jared (Joy), John and Amber; his grandchildren, Megan, Nathan, Bethany and Abigail; his brother Bill (Burnetta); and his sister-in-law Alice Sanders. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
