He was loved and cherished by many people including: his son Timothy Todd Cardwell; his wife Barbara Cardwell; his daughters, Tammy Hawkins (Randy Todd Hawkins) and Lisa Dawn McGrath (James McGrath); his siblings, Gerald Cardwell (Linda Cardwell), Brenda Friedman (Fred Friedman), Sharon Venz and His; his grandchildren, Ashley Hawkins Smith, Tim Hawkins, Lily McGrath, Mary Ava McGrath, Peter McGrath and Sarah Anne McGrath; his great grandchild Leland Hawkins; and his parents, William Cardwell and Gladys Cardwell. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
