He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Ann Spellman Cotten; his parents, Birl Cotten of Olla and Dezzie Hinton Cotten of Olla; his brothers, Lonnie Birl Cotten, Leon Beverly "Tinker" Cotten, William Gordon Cotten and Larry Gordon Cotten; and his grandson Riley Hinton Cotten.
He is survived by: his children, Kelly Cotten of Jacksons Gap, AL, Lisa Allen (Robby) of Mobile, AL, Shannon McCallister of Bradenton, FL, Erin Wolfe (Jeffrey) of Marietta, GA and Rebecca Jude Taylor (Victor); his grandchildren, Megan Cotten, Caitlin Sampson (Stephen), Christopher Taylor, Laura Cotten, Melanie Taylor, Bree McCallister and Victoria Wolfe; his great grandchildren, Wyatt Sampson and Little Cooter; and also Little Cooter.
