He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert Denney and Allie V. Denney; and his brother Bobby Waites. He is survived by : his siblings, Mable Gunter, Alice Waites of Talladega and Harry Waites (Carol) of Opelika; and his close friend Scott Burnham. He is also survived by four nephews, three nieces.
