He was predeceased by: his parents, Erma Akin and Charles Akin Sr.; his daughter Sonya Akin; and his sister Patricia Reeves. He is survived by: his wife Shelia Akin; his daughters, Candace Akin-Allen (Walter), Teresa Watson-Edge (Ronnie) and Penny Finn; his brother Charles Akin (Janet); his grandchildren, Mikayla Cook, Anthony "TyTy" Akin, Raven Smith, Dustin Pressley, Shae Harper and Paige Matheson-Hughes (Shane); and his great grandchildren, Ethan Pressley and Joel Hughes.
