He was predeceased by : his parents, Loyd Sr. Horton and Jesse "Sis" Horton; his siblings, Brenda Kay Hope and Danny "Goose" Horton; and his nephew Frankie Hope.

He is survived by : his son Paul Eston Horton (Mia); his grandchildren, Beth Traywick (Kent Loveless) and Jake Horton (April); his great grandchildren, Eli, Tristan Traywick and Baylee Headley; his sisters, Gail Vick and Jean Webb; and his close friend Colleen Burcham.
