He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Preston Houston and Matilda Rives Houston; his wife Mildred "Mit" Cobb Houston; his daughter Frances Bernice Houston; and his brother Robert "Rob" Houston.

He is survived by: his sons, Steve Houston (Sandy) and Jim Houston (Donna); his brother John Houston (Rita); and his grandchildren, Cole Houston, Reagan Houston, Tyson Houston, Jarrett Houston, Cody Cowan (Lauren) and Nick Cowan.
