She was predeceased by : her parents, Henry Joseph Cowen and Generbell Lee Cannady; her husband Gordon King; her children, Edward Wayne Moody and Linda Moody Stevens; her sisters, Peggy Yount and Sherrie Kid McKissick; and her grandson Clyde Wilson.

She is survived by : her son David Smithers; her grandchildren, Sherry Cruz, Marcus McLemore, Jr. and James Stevens, Jr.; and her nieces, Tina Turney and Theresa Sisk.
