He was predeceased by : his parents, Bobby Strickland and Beatrice Johnston Strickland Bruce; his stepfather D. B. Bruce; his sister Rita Gilbreath; his stepbrothers, Terry and Jeff Bruce; and his brother-in-law Joe Hawkins.

He is survived by : his daughters, Beverly Robinson (Jimmy) and Wendy Strickland; his grandchildren, Jason Hubble, Spencer Hubble, Kevin Robinson, Dalton Robinson, Brooke Lawson (Jonathan), Sidney Trussell (Seth) and Colby Strickland; his great grandchildren, Dyson Hubble, Emmett Milli, Talya, Lilith and Ezra; his sister Linda Hawkins; his stepbrothers, Shan Bruce and Steve Bruce; his brother-in-law George Gilbreath; and his close friends, Mike Bynum, Jimmy Gary, Danny Gaskin and Larry Head. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
