She was predeceased by: her parents, Allie Henry and Itaska Nesmith Shumate; her daughter Cindy Sterling; her grandson Scotty Laney; her siblings, Mason Shumate and Betty Joyce Clemmons; and her son-in-law Orville Kinney Quattlebaum.
She is survived by: her husband Buel Laney; her children, Billy Joe Laney, Josh Sterling (Chelsea), Palma Jean Quattlebaum, Tammie Susan Parker (Randy) and Kay Tolbert (Ralph Tolbert); her siblings, Thomas Shumate (Melissa), Martha Sue Wimberly and Rose Mary Woods (R. B.); her grandchildren, Traundia Lambert (John), Kelly Quattlebaum, Jeremy Quattlebaum (Jennifer), Holly Bogard (Ty), Erica Stanford (Griffin), Michael Tolbert, Clint Parker (Jesyka), Laney Ayers (Nate), Andrea Parker and Emma Lane Sterling; and her great grandchildren, Gaven, Colby, Kinsley, Gabe, Jazzlyn, Jaylie, Jovie, Walker, Charli, Aubrey, Finn, Millie, Sam, Ethan and Lincoln. She is also survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
