He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Evert T. Hayes and Helen Carolyn Hayes; his wife Barbara Fagan Hayes; his daughters, Melissa Hayes King (Doug) and Tina Hayes Snead (Dale); his grandchildren, Skylar King (Sarah), Kristen King Lang (Bobby), Allison Snead Allcorn (Noah) and Anna Snead; and his siblings, Ronald Hayes (Nadine), Randy Hayes (Regina), Phillip Hayes (Debbie), Carolyn McCluskey (Tim), Edith, Brenda Creasy (Daniel), Faye Chandler (Sam), Doris Creasy, Mary Handley (Jack) and Myra Arnold (Danny).

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Clayton's memory may be made to Cullman Church of Christ, 4345 Alabama Hwy 157, Cullman, Alabama 35055.
