He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara; his son Vince; his brother Steven Gerald Phillips; and his parents, Rufus Phillips and Lydia Phillips.

He is survived by: his children, Mike Phillips (Sheila) of Cullman, Anita Phillips Patton (Mike) of Sylacauga and Greg Phillips (Renee) of Sylacauga; his siblings, Bruce, Larry, Ken and Kay Phillips Gorgon of Oneonta, AL.; and his grandchildren, Jason Phillips, Hannah Phillips Higgonbotham, Samantha Patton Fowler, Grant Patton, Joshua Phillips and Nikki Phillips.
