She was predeceased by: her former husbands, J. D. "Bimbo" Goodwin Jr. and Von Roberts; her son Joel Derrick Goodwin; and her parents, Alvin Alexander and Mary McGraw Alexander.
She is survived by: her husband James Mays; her daughters, Tara Twilley (Eric), Sandy Brinson (Jonathan), Jennifer Smith (Isaac) and Chris McClure; her sister Lisa Alexander; her close friend Debra Smith; and also, Britney Crawford (Spencer) and Diane Rape (Terry). She is also survived by 9 grandsons; 8 granddaughters; 4 great grandchildren, a host of nephews and nieces.
