He was predeceased by : his parents, Vadie Clarence Laney and Lucy Ferris Fitzgerald Laney; his son Jim McAbee; his son-in-law Glenn Jolley; his grandson Tyler Jolley; and his sister Betty Laney Johnson.

He is survived by : his wife Billie Partlow Laney; his children, Lisa McLeod (Mike), Barbara Williams (Paul), Sherry Jolley, Kim Laney, Daniel McAbee (Rhnea) and Nikki Laney; and his brother Arwin Laney (Martha). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
