He is survived by : his mother Virginia Matthews Gafford; his sisters, Jane Wasden and Sonya Adams; his children, Stephen Matthews and Layla Bowden; his granddaughter Maddie Bowden; and his nieces, Sandra Gibson Medley and Shirley Gibson Freeland.
