He was predeceased by : his parents, Joe Bryan Lawrence and Genie Mae Fannin Lawrence; and his siblings, Jerry Wayne Lawrence, Thomas Joe Lawrence, Eloise Bartruff and Jean Stanfield.

He is survived by : his wife Frances "Frankie" Lawrence; and his children, Walter Lawrence (Virginia) and Laurie Sanderson (Rickie). He is also survived by five grandchildren & five great grandchildren.
