He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Homer Frank Shelton and Mary Lucille Hilliard Shelton; his wife Virginia Ruth Hill Shelton; his sister Thelma Lorene Shelton; his children, Sam Shelton (Laura) of Pell City, Susan Shelton Hines (Tom) of Hartselle and Sherre Shelton McKelvey (Greg) of Tuscaloosa; his stepsons, Robert A. Doherty (Lisa) of Decatur and James M. Doherty (Monica) of Decatur; and his brother Kenneth Shelton, Sr. (Vicki) of Decatur. He was also cherished by 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
