She was predeceased by: her parents, J. C. Ward and Donnie Mae Ward; and her sisters, Linnie Holt and Elma Phifer. She is survived by: her husband Johney Dumas; her children, Shakuntala Ingram and Alexander Dumas; her stepson Herbert Bowman; her children, Yakemi Ward McKinnis and Kaneisha Ward; her siblings, Willie C. Ward (Brenda), Minister Roger Ward (Barbara), Elizabeth Bryant, Mary Williams and Luretha Gatlin; and her close friend Mary Gomez. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
